Article history: Received 20 February 2012 Received in revised form 9 July 2012 Accepted 11 July 2012 Available online 29 July 2012 This paper analyzes Turkey's geothermal energy future perspective and power generation strategy with a view to explaining Delphi approach to geothermal energy development. In this study, the two round Delphi survey was conducted to experts to determine and measure the expectations of the sector representatives through online surveys where a total of 32 experts responded from 14 different locations. The majority of the Delphi survey respondents were from different universities (59.4%), industries (25%) and governmental organizations (15.6%). The article discusses expert sights on geothermal energy technologies and also includes bibliometrical approaches in order to assess the potentials of emerging and existing technologies. The results indicated that Turkey's geothermal power installed capacity is expected to reach 500 MW by around 2021 subsequent to the implementation of “Renovation of Standards and Regulations” and “Fiscal Approaches”. © 2012 Elsevier Inc. Comparison of Well Completions Used in Oil/gas Production and Geothermal Operations: a New Approach to Technology Transfer

Renewable energy is seen as the future source for meeting the world’s growing demand, with geothermal offering a constant and independent supply. Tapping geothermal energy is not always straightforward as deep drilling is required in order to access this high -temperature resource. Geothermal drilling is expensive and is financed by the operator (usually districts or state representatives) with...

An Improvement in Thermal and Rheological Properties of Water-based Drilling Fluids Using Multiwall Carbon Nanotube (MWCNT)

Designing drilling fluids for drilling in deep gas reservoirs and geothermal wells is a major challenge. Cooling drilling fluids and preparing stable mud with high thermal conductivity are of great concern. Drilling nanofluids, i.e. a low fraction of carbon nanotube (CNT) well dispersed in mud, may enhance the mixture thermal conductivity compared to the base fluids. Thus, they are potentially ...

Development of Database System for Lost Circulation and Analysis of the Data

It is very important to reduce drilling costs because the cost of drilling the wells is approximately 50% in geothermal energy development for electric power generation. Lost Circulation (LC) is serious problem that contributes greatly to the cost of drilling and completion of the geothermal wells. LC also can be the cause of formation collapse and/or stuck drill strings as well as failure in c...
